Romina Balestrino is a distinctive artist who brings together two worlds: her Argentine roots and more than twenty years of life and artistic activity in Madrid. With a powerful and unmistakable voice, she bridges these two cultural experiences, expressing in her music the shared passion, identity, and emotional depth of both sides of the Atlantic. The result is a singular artistic voice that places Argentine tango and Latin American musical heritage in dialogue with contemporary Spanish cultural life.
Balestrino studied at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory in Buenos Aires and subsequently enriched her artistic training through studies in theatrical improvisation and clowning.
Since moving to Spain in 2002, she has performed extensively at festivals, concert series, and radio and television programs in Spain and across Europe. Her career has encompassed a wide range of musical projects, while maintaining a strong connection to tango and Argentine musical culture.
In 2016, she released her debut album, Seremos Tango, followed by Mi versión de los hechos (2020) and Te vas pensando en volver (2022). All three albums have been presented in both Spain and Argentina. In 2022, she also starred in the musical Tango Tirao, which continues to be performed at venues throughout Spain and whose songs were subsequently released on an album of the same title.
During 2024, Balestrino continued presenting Te vas pensando en volver at festivals and concert venues, alongside her participation in various musical projects, including Glamour Tango, presented at the Palau de la Música in Valencia.
In 2025, she continued touring with Te vas pensando en volver and her tango projects, while also recording Corazón al sur, by renowned Argentine songwriter Eladia Blázquez, with acclaimed Argentine singer Sandra Mihanovich.
In 2026, Balestrino introduced the Romina Balestrino Trio, presenting a range of new projects, including Quiero escucharlos a todos (I Want to Hear Them All), a show celebrating the voices of Hispanic American poets, which has been presented at theaters throughout Spain.
In March 2026, Balestrino was awarded First Prize in the Soloist Category at the International Competition ASTOR PIAZZOLLA® in Como, Italy, where she also received three Special Jury Prizes. In June 2026, she was invited to participate in the Piazzolla Reloaded concert at the Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie.

Romina Balestrino frequently performs with bandoneon accompaniment, bringing the distinctive sound and expressive character of Argentine tango to her performances. Her collaboration with Iván Montero, an accomplished bandoneonist, composer, and director of Orquesta Típica Montero, reflects a shared commitment to the authentic sound and contemporary expression of Argentine tango.

A graduate of the Manuel de Falla Higher Conservatory of Music, he holds qualifications as a Senior Professor of Bandoneon and Senior Professor of Argentine Popular Music. He also graduated from ESMJPE as a National Guitar Teacher.
Throughout his career, he has performed at major concert venues and festivals across Argentina, with a particular focus on tango and Argentine popular music. His performances have taken him to renowned venues and events including Usina del Arte, CCK, the Buenos Aires Tango Festival, La Viruta, Salón Canning, Marabú, La Catedral del Tango, Milonga La Nacional, the Radio Nacional Auditorium, the 2x4 Auditorium, La Trastienda, Complejo Art Media, and Cosquín, among others. He has also performed internationally in Spain, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
He is the director of Orquesta Típica Montero, and has worked as a bandoneon coach and hand double for the film Chau Buenos Aires, directed by Germán Krall.
His recording work includes sessions at ION Studios, notably on Típica Urbana by Fabián Bertero, RIO by Irunah, and Pa' Que Aprendan Les Muchaches, conducted under his own direction.
As a composer, he received a Special Mention at the Contemporary Tango Festival in its composition competition, further reflecting his engagement with the development and contemporary expression of Argentine tango.
